Project Description

In this project, we focused on revitalizing the kitchen cabinets of a small-to-medium-sized kitchen in Beverly Hills, Baltimore City, MD. The homeowners, Colleen and Chris, wanted a fresh, modern look without the high cost of a full cabinet replacement. Instead of spending $40,000 to $50,000 on brand-new cabinets, they opted for a professional cabinet painting solution that would deliver the same transformative effect at a fraction of the cost. Our team painted 15 cabinet doors and 8 drawers, using spray-painting techniques to achieve a smooth, factory-like finish.

This project took 3 to 4 working days to complete, with a budget of $3,500 to $4,500. Our scope included kitchen cabinet painting, interior painting, and spray painting, ensuring that every detail was executed with precision and care.

Background/Story:

Colleen and Chris were not new to our work. The previous year, we had painted the entire interior of their home, and they were so impressed with the results that they reached out again for their kitchen renovation. Initially, they considered replacing their cabinets altogether, but after receiving quotes that were far beyond their budget, they decided to explore a more cost-effective option.

They envisioned a bold yet sophisticated kitchen, and we helped them choose the perfect color—Sherwin Williams Rainstorm (SW 6230) in a matte finish. This deep, rich blue would give their space a modern and elegant feel, while complementing their existing countertops and backsplash.

Scope of Services:

  • Kitchen Cabinet Painting & Refinishing: Thoroughly cleaned, degreased, and sanded all cabinet surfaces to remove buildup and ensure proper adhesion.

  • Spray-Painting for a Factory-Grade Finish: Used professional spray techniques to achieve a smooth, flawless coating on 15 cabinet doors and 8 drawers.

  • Surface Protection & Final Touch-Ups: Carefully masked and protected surrounding surfaces to prevent overspray, followed by detailed touch-ups for a pristine result.

  • Primer Application: Applied Sherwin Williams Shellac-Based Primer to create a strong, durable base for the paint.

Products Used:

  • Playroom Ceiling: Sherwin-Williams ProMar Ceiling Paint – White
  • Basement Walls: Sherwin-Williams Super Paint, Velvet Finish – Upward (6239)
  • Kitchen Cabinet Touch-Ups: Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane Trim – White Semigloss
  • Kitchen Ceiling Touch-Ups: Benjamin Moore Ceiling Paint – White

Results:

The transformation was nothing short of stunning. The rich blue cabinets added depth and contrast, making the kitchen feel both modern and inviting. The homeowners were thrilled, saying, “This looks like a brand-new kitchen! We’re so glad we chose to paint instead of replace—it saved us thousands and looks incredible.”

Their reaction was exactly what we strive for—high-quality work that not only meets but exceeds expectations. After seeing the results, they even referred us to friends and neighbors looking to update their own homes. This project is a perfect example of how expert craftsmanship and the right color choice can completely transform a space without breaking the bank.
